RCCF Grants Strengthen Firefighter Safety Across Republic County

December 5, 2025

Four Republic County fire districts recently received funding to enhance firefighter safety and better protect their communities. Agenda, Belleville, and Cuba Fire Districts were each awarded $10,000, and the Munden-Narka Fire District received $15,000 through the Republic County Community Foundation (RCCF)’s Spring 2025 grant cycle.

With these grants, the districts purchased critical safety equipment essential for emergency response. • Agenda, Belleville, and Munden-Narka invested in new SCBA airpacks, air bottles, masks and bags providing firefighters with reliable breathing support in hazardous situations. • Cuba Fire District upgraded its outer gear, giving firefighters improved protection during fires and rescue operations.

“Equipment like this is expensive, and these grant dollars make a real difference,” said RCCF. “This investment strengthens the safety and readiness of our local fire departments and ultimately benefits everyone in Republic County.”

Fire department leaders expressed deep appreciation for the support, noting that the grants allow them to invest in tools that enhance both safety and service.

This work is made possible through RCCF’s Community Action Fund, the foundation’s grantmaking endowment that supports local needs. From public safety to education, youth, community development, and more. Each December, the fund grows significantly during Match Month, when donations are tripled thanks to matching support from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and the Patterson Family Foundation. RCCF invests and grows these dollars, and a portion of the earnings is granted back into Republic County year after year.

“Donations to the Community Action Fund stay right here in Republic County—forever,” RCCF noted. “They make projects like improved fire safety gear possible and strengthen every corner of our county.”

Since 2007, RCCF has invested in public safety and other community priorities, ensuring local organizations have the resources they need to protect, serve, and thrive.
