Community foundation awards scholarships

BELLEVILLE, Kan.— The Republic County Community Foundation has awarded over $15,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year. The following students received scholarships:

  • The Amos and Joyce Blecha 4-H Scholarship is for seniors graduating from a Republic County high school who are involved in 4-H. Andrew Hubert and Blake Aurand, both of Belleville, each received a $500 scholarship.
  • The Bruce Bowersbox Memorial Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Republic County planning to major in the field of Engineering. Jonathan Dyke, Concordia, received a $1,102 scholarship.
  • The Clara Dowell Legacy Scholarship is for female graduates or female students qualifying for graduation from a Republic County high school, or a non-traditional student living in Republic County, Kansas. Emma Morris, Belleville, received a $4,500 scholarship.
  • The Florea Family Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors from a Republic County high school planning to major in Business Administration or Agricultural Economics. Halle Hartner, Belleville, received a $4,000 scholarship.
  • The Johnson-Granstedt Memorial Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Republic County, with preference to USD 426 students. Erica Sublett, Courtland, and Keaton Reeves, Scandia, each received a $900 scholarship. Carolina Barraza, Courtland, received a $600 scholarship. Leah Benne and Paisley Benne, both of Courtland, each receieved a $353 scholarship.
  • The Joyce and Jim Hill Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Republic County. Trevor Lewellyn, Belleville, and Keaton Reeves, Scandia, each received a $600 scholarship.
  • The Scott Family Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Republic County, with preference to USD 109 students. Carolina Barraza, Courtland, and Brianna Maldonado, Belleville, each received a $2,000 scholarship. Ethan Benne, Courtland, Katrina Ball, Belleville, Tobi Wilber, Belleville, Trevor Martin, Belleville, Grant White, Belleville, and Brailyn Carlgren, Courtland, each received a renewed $1,000 scholarship.
