The Republic County Community Foundation (RCCF) is excited to announce the launch of its Youth Action Council (YAC) a new leadership and enrichment program designed to empower local teens to create positive change in their communities. Applications are now open and will be accepted through August 31.
The purpose and mission of the Youth Action Council is to:
- Empower youth to participate in community decision-making
- Encourage active civic engagement
- Cultivate a spirit of philanthropy
- Build a stronger sense of local pride
The RCCF Youth Action Council will bring together high school students from across Republic County to explore community needs, share ideas, and become active changemakers. This initiative is open to students who will be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade during the 2025–26 school year and who reside in Republic County. For its inaugural year, two councils will be formed—one at Republic County High School and one at Pike Valley High School—each meeting independently to take action and address the needs of their respective districts and communities.
Through the program members will also gain insight into the grantmaking process by identifying, developing, and executing a community or school project.
Activities that YAC members can expect:
- Attend monthly meetings during the school day in September through April
- Actively participate in discussions and activities
- Advocate for the Youth Action Council, RCCF, and the youth of Republic County
The RCCF Board and Director Molly Williams are confident this initiative will have a lasting impact on Republic County’s youth and communities. “We believe in the power of young people to shape the future of our communities,” Williams said. “The Youth Action Council will give students the opportunity to lead, collaborate, and directly impact Republic County in meaningful ways.”
Applications are due by August 31. Students can apply here or by contacting RCCF directly.
