Community foundation accepting applications for spring grants

Wednesday, February 17th, 2021

BELLEVILLE, Kan.—The Republic County Community Foundation is now accepting applications for spring grants. Online applications are due Thursday, April 15, 2021.

Last spring, the Blair Center for the Arts Foundation identified a need to offer high-quality entertainment to people in the area through a mobile outdoor cinema package to utilize while their main facility remained closed during the pandemic. “While the ability to help patrons relieve stress and anxiety through entertainment at the Blair’s current location is not an option, this entertainment could be brought to people in a safe way using outdoor cinema viewing,” said grantee Amy Walker-McGuire.

Thanks to a grant from the community foundation, the Blair was capable of bringing a fun and safe entertainment option to the community. “As stress, work uncertainty and normal routines have been upended, being able to attend a movie with added safety of an outdoor setting allowed for people to experience a “normal” night of entertainment that was quite welcomed,” said Walker-McGuire.

This spring over $75,000 is available to charitable projects in Republic County. This cycle will fund local community projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Projects that improve the quality of life for Republic County residents.
• Projects that address education, health care, community social services and security, conservation and environment, arts and culture, and community beautification.
• Projects that support public health programs that support and encourage healthy living across Republic County.

Funding for the spring grant cycle is provided by the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund and the Republic County Community Action Fund

Grants are limited to communities in Republic County and will be awarded through a competitive application process. Nonprofit organizations, government and public entities, educational institutions and churches are encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on April 15.
