Scholarship recipients announced

The Republic County Community Foundation has awarded over $9,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year.

  • The Amos and Joyce Blecha 4-H Scholarship is for seniors graduating from a Republic County high school who are involved in 4-H. Lasondra Aurand, Belleville, Ben Jensen, Courtland, and Tiana Sothers, Belleville, each received a $400 scholarship.
  • The Bruce Bowersox Memorial Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Republic County High School. Carl Brunner, Belleville, received a $1,000 scholarship.
  • The Johnson-Granstedt Memorial Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Republic County, with preference to USD 426 students. Davante’ Hammer, Scandia, and Tiana Sothers, Belleville, each received a $1,000 scholarship, and Ben Jensen, Courtland, and Cole Strickler, Jamestown, each received a $500 scholarship.
  • The Scott Family Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Republic County, with preference to USD 109 students. Amanda Baxa, Cuba, and Adara Warner, Concordia, each received a $2,000 scholarship.

The foundation is home to four scholarship funds, which were established by area donors to support students pursuing higher education. More information about the scholarship program can be found at www.republiccountycf.org/scholarships.
