Republic County Community foundation awards over $40,000 in fall grants

BELLEVILLE, Kan.— During its fall grant cycle, the Republic County Community Foundation awarded over $40,000 to eight projects throughout Republic County. The following organizations received funding:

City of Cuba, $25,000 for the construction of the Cuba Heritage Center.
City of Belleville, $6,600 to replace the City Park slide.
USD 426, $2,800 to purchase Lego Robotics kits.
City of Scandia, $1,800 to replace Christmas lights put up by the City of Scandia.
Republic #9 Fire Department, $1,650 to purchase metal and supplies to update the fire hall.
USD 109, $1,500 for new cheerleading uniforms for Republic County High School.
KSU River Valley Extension, $1,000 for a mental health speaker at Belleville Junior/Senior High.
Smoky Hills Public Television, $500 to provide books to children enrolled in Early Head Start and Head Start in Republic County.

This round of grants was made possible by the community foundation’s Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, which supports projects and programs that improve the community’s quality of life.
