Community foundation awards scholarships

The Republic County Community Foundation has awarded over $10,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year.

  • The Amos and Joyce Blecha 4-H Scholarship is for seniors graduating from a Republic County high school who are involved in 4-H. Anna Pachta, Belleville, received a $700 scholarship and Cheneal Benne, Courtland, received a $250 scholarship.
  • The Johnson-Granstedt Memorial Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Republic County, with preference to USD 426 students. Cheneal Benne, Courtland, and Jentry McGregor, Belleville each received a $1,000 scholarship, and Brailyn Carlgren, Courtland, received a $857 scholarship.
  • The Florea Family Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors from a Republic County, KS high school planning to major in Business Administration or Agricultural Economics. Amber Cherney, Cuba, and Zachary Parde, Belleville, each received a $1,500 scholarship.
  • The Scott Family Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Republic County, with preference to USD 109 students. Brailyn Carlgren, Courtland, and Grant White, Belleville, each received a $2,000 scholarship.

The foundation is home to five scholarship funds, which were established by area donors to support students pursuing higher education. More information about the scholarship program can be found at www.republiccountycf.org/scholarships.
